12th Anniversary of Dr.Sheik Chinna Moulana was conducted in a grand manner by the Trust this year on April 13th & 14th. As usual the Trust honored two senior from Nadhaswaram fraternity from Chennai with a purse of Rs.10,000/-each, also with shawl and citation. The artistes are:
1. Malayambakkam SHri.D.Mani – Senior Nadhaswaram artiste
2. Shri.K.N.Dhakshinamurthy – Senior Thavil artiste.
The recipient of the Nadhaswaram instruments this year are; Selvi.Jayalakshmi – Student of Government Music College, Chennai and Selvan. Manikandan - Student of Government Music School, Thiruvannamalai. Sh.Narasimhan Raghavan & Godha Narasimhan living in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA sponsored one
Nadhaswaram instrument and Sri Rama Gana Sabha Trust in Trichy sponsored another Nadhaswaram instrument this year.
Sh.Karuthapandia Nadar, Hereditary Trustee of Shri.Chairman Arunachala Swamy temple, Eral (Tuticorin District -Tamilnadu) and Dr.K.Vageesh, Dy.Director of Programs (Carnatic Music) Directorate general, All India Radio, New Delhi, Paid high tributes to Dr.Sheik Chinna Moulana on the occasion.
Dr. K.Vageesh presented an avid and vibrant concert that turned out as a feast both for the laity and the connoisseur. Dr.Vageesh surprised the listeners by presenting a composition specially crafted by him for this occasion, in praise of Sheik Chinnamoulana; the lyrics commenced with the lines, “Srirangathil vasithu Sri Ramanai Thuthithu Vaazhntha Sheik Chinnamoulanavai Vanunguvom…” in the appropriate Ragha “Nagaswaravali”. The second day, 14th April was made all the more auspicious by soulful nadhaswaram music by, Vyasarpadi G.Kothandaraman and party.
